The Austin Technology Council is turning its sold-out member happy hour on Thursday night into a Red Cross fundraiser and way to spread the word about the Austin High Tech Challenge. A speaker representing the Red Cross will be attending the Happy Hour gathering and we are asking all Austin Tech community leaders to join the effort and raise $500K to help those impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

The threat from Hurricane Harvey is far from over, as extremely dangerous flooding continues in Texas and Louisiana. Thousands of our neighbors are without power and stranded in their homes. Major roads flooded, rail lines shut down, and airports, hospitals, and nursing facilities closed.
Here is the latest Red Cross update from the ground:
- More than 1,800 people took refuge from the deadly storm Saturdaynight in 35 Red Cross and community shelters in Texas and Louisiana.
- We are expecting many more impacted people to seek refuge in Austin, as Harvey will produce several more feet of rain and reservoirs are opened throughout this week.
- Millions of people are facing flash flood warnings and evacuation orders, including the entire Houston metro area, which is under a flash flood emergency.
Your donations will help provide shelter, health services, ready-to-eat meals, comfort kits, and kitchen and cleaning supplies for thousands of people in need.
We’re asking all Austin tech community leaders to join the effort and raise $500K to help those impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
