ATC Battle of the Tech Bands rocked the Mohawk on Monday Oct. 9th as an opening party of Austin Startup Week. The evening showcased the best of Austin culture, live music and the tech community as ATC member companies took the stage to compete to be crowned Austin’s best tech band. A crowd of more than 400 from Austin’s tech community gathered to cheer on their favorite bands and their Companies.

Event sponsors included ATC Board Companies BP3GemaltoQuantcastSailpoint and SkylesBayne; ATC members PhunwareShipstation, Workhorse  and GrubHub.

Indeed’s “The Snowmen,” Visa’s “Rumor Whiskey,” Aktary Tech’s “Turing Machine,” RetailMeNot’s “The Wailsharks,” Shipstation’s “The Ship Kickers,” and ClearBlade’s “bird,” and Spredfast’s “Golden Solid” rocked the Mohawk Main Stage and the event also featured headliner, The Derrick Davis Band.

Community support also helped make the event memorable as representatives for HAAM were onsite collecting donations and a portion of the proceeds of raffle ticket sales was donated to the charity.

GrubHub for Work helped to keep the crowd fed with offerings from a variety of restaurants, a raffle for a drone and promotions for their GrubHub for Work service of $75 off first orders with promo code ROCK75.

Our Austin celebrity judge panel featured Hugh Forrest of SXSW Interactive, Greg Barr, Managing Editor of the Austin Business Journal, Jennifer Houlihan, Managing Director Austin Forum on Technology & Society.

The night closed out with local artist The Derrick Davis Band before the Battle winners were announced.

Winners of the Crowd Favorite were Indeed’s “Snowmen,” and the Judge’s Pick was Visa’s

The winners both received an “Overnight with a Tesla” courtesy of Tesla Domain, the Crowd Favorite was awarded gift certificates to Strait Music and the Judge’s Pick received passes for SXSW and a prize package from TuneCore.

Austin Technology Council wants to thank everyone who came out and supported Austin Tech and Austin Startup Week and a special thank you to Workhorse for helping design our event marketing materials.
