Role Summary/Purpose:

To design, implement and support voice network infrastructure to meet the needs of the company business requirements

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible of the day to day changes to the voice systems (Call Manager, voicemail, fax server)
  • Provide end user level 1 support
  • Work with network cable patching of services related to voice
  • Work with carriers to fix voice circuit outages
  • Documentation of technical procedures and day to day changes (extension number changes, other)


  • Desired technical and/or working knowledge of some or all of the following:
    • VoIP Telephony
    • Cisco Call Manager
    • Understand the IP phones the differences between them, how they are installed and configured
    • Cisco Contact Center Enterprise
    • Avaya gateways, specifically G650 and G700 models and familiarity with auxiliary boxes such as CMS, AES, and Modular Messaging
    • Cisco Unity
    • CallXpress voicemail
    • RightFax
  • 3-5 years hands-on experience engineering and administering PBX and IP PBX infrastructures
  • Knowledge of voice/data communications, including telecommunications standards and technologies for TDM, IP and cellular phone services
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation
  • Knowledge of telecom cabling and wiring
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good interpersonal skills; effective team player
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to prioritize work load and consistently meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
  • Proficient computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work without instructions on routine work
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Education Preferred: BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunications, or similar degree. Relevant work experience can be substituted for the college education
  • Have at least a basic knowledge of networking concepts such as ACLs, VLANS, SNMP, etc.
