SUMMARY:Engineering Leadership Roundtable: Understanding Your Candidate Pool
DESCRIPTION:When it comes to filling an open position\, keep in mind: You aren’t replacing Joe\, you’re hiring a developer. \nOftentimes\, when a long-term employee leaves their post\, hiring managers are stuck with the dilemma of finding a candidate who is prepared to pick right back up where the former employee left off. But this is unrealistic and unfair to potential candidates seeking to fill the position. \nHow can hiring managers narrow the scope of open positions and still draw in attractive and qualified applicants with upskilling potential? Let’s discuss at our upcoming Engineering Leadership Roundtable. \nRegister Now \nAgenda: \n8:30 AM – Check in\, network\, have breakfast \n9:00-10:00 AM – Open discussion

SUMMARY:The Metaverse Is Here\, Now — But The Future is Even Bigger
DESCRIPTION:The concept of the Metaverse — and the associated technologies — are seeing a huge uptick in awareness\, investment\, and presence in “top tech trends” list\, and with good reason. The Metaverse offers capabilities that transcend physical limitations and laws\, and thus offers the potential for transforming how we communicate\, play\, work\, learn\, and more. It has taken 30 years for technologies to catch up to the Metaverse envisioned by Neal Stephenson in “Snow Crash\,” but we’re seeing the first rich\, compelling multiverse environments be deployed and used now — and the future capabilities and uses will be tremendous as technology capabilities continue to advance exponentially and as Metaverse designers and developers gain experience and feedback. \nJoin us as we kick off “Metaverse May” in the Austin Forum as Hrish Lotlikar\, CEO and Founder of SuperWorld\, shares what the Metaverse is\, explains the key technologies\, and reveals why the Metaverse is so compelling and full of potential. Hrish will also share where he thinks the Metaverse is headed and how it will impact our lives and interactions. Finally\, Hrish will share why your company or organization should embrace the Metaverse\, and how you can learn more and start your journey into the Metaverse!

SUMMARY:Stabilizing and Decarbonizing the Texas Grid with Computation and Bitcoin
DESCRIPTION:Renewable carbon-neutral generation is now the least expensive means to produce electricity in the world. In West Texas alone\, we can produce terawatt-hours of power through wind turbines and solar panels. The question is no longer how do we generate sustainable energy\, but how do we leverage its power efficiently and economically. \nThis question is met with two challenges. One\, the wind does not always blow and the sun does not always shine. When this is the case\, energy costs rise. Two\, even if the sun is shining and the wind is blowing\, the best wind and solar sources are not near population centers and heavy industry. This results in terawatt-hours of inexpensive potential power unused. Computation\, specifically Bitcoin mining\, located in West Texas could address both of these issues as data centers would act as giant batteries and grid stabilizers\, soaking up power during times of excess generation\, and releasing it back out when renewable sources are limited\, thus stabilizing the grid. \nDuring this presentation\, we will cover electrical grid basics and how bitcoin mining can be used as a variable and controllable load to stabilize the grid\, thus making renewable energy generation more profitable and efficient. \nREGISTER NOW

Jones has over 25 years in the technology market place. He started his career at Electronic Data Systems where he was exposed to early application development disciplines and methodologies. He then spent many years helping evolve approaches to development including Information Engineering\, Component Based Development methods and Agile practices. Mike\, then spent 9 years helping OutSystems establish itself as the leader in the Low-code market before joining Do iT Lean as their General Manager for Americas. \nRon Savarese has been in the software industry since 2008 but has been chasing tech as a personal interest since the days internet speed was measured in baud. That interest in technology and staying up on current trends has been a passion for a long time and led him to where he is today. He cut his teeth initially as a database developer and architect\, having built applications while serving in the US Navy\, and then went on to eventually manage teams as a director\, CTO\, and for the past 4 years as President of MicroMain Corporation. The crowning achievement that landed him on this panel of experts – parachuting into the 6th failed iteration of a software redesign from the ground-up. One final project and 7 months later\, they had their MVP to release\, all built on a no/low-code platform. Today the company does millions in ARR and transitioned 100% of their focus to the new SaaS app built on no/low-code. \nMeet Our Moderator: \nLinda Ginac is the Chairman and CEO of TalentGuard\, a leading VC-funded SaaS company focused on changing the way global organizations manage and develop their employees.
