SUMMARY:Smarter(er) Cities: At the Intersection of People\, Data & Devices
DESCRIPTION:The topic of smart cities is characterized by complexity. From a technical perspective\, a smart city involves everything from devices to data to cloud and network infrastructure. Layered on top of this is the complexity of urban living and the mounting challenges of our modern society. Our city experience involves everything from how we get around\, to how we access city services\, to how we connect to the Internet\, to how we engage with our elected officials. Equity issues are highlighted when these services are accessible for some\, but not all. Smart cities have the potential to make amazing contributions\, but there are important issues to resolve including data privacy/ownership\, public-private partnerships and infrastructure resilience just to name a few. As overwhelming as this topic is\, one aspect is very simple – smart cities are about solving challenges for people\, not just about technology. Join us as we dive into the issues\, sort the complexity and showcase projects that are producing tangible results in this fascinating space.

SUMMARY:The Power and Potential of Immersive Experiences
DESCRIPTION:Technologies for creating immersive experiences have been around for a while\, but recently have exploded in popularity\, and not just due to the pandemic! Processing performance\, rendering and ray tracing techniques\, AI algorithms\, display resolutions and color accuracy\, AR and VR capabilities\, memory and storage speeds—all of the relevant technologies have recently reached levels that enable both more physical and visual realism in real-time\, dynamic\, multi-person environments. Gaming and entertainment provide a constant driver for integrating and advancing the capabilities of these technologies\, and now remote work and learning have also become a huge driving force. We are witnessing a revolution in the power of immersive experiences—and yet we’re only scratching the surface of the potential for bringing people together and entertaining\, teaching\, and more.\n\nIn this talk with Amber Allen\, CEO & Founder of Austin-based Double A Labs\, and Russell Arons\, Chief Commercial Officer and formally GM of the digital network Machinima\, you will hear about the revolution that is happening in virtual worlds and how these are being applied to fan-based experiences\, sales enablement\, training and education and more. Come understand how video game platforms\, augmented reality\, 3D modeling\, AI\, and the metaverse are being brought together to change the way we watch\, play\, shop\, and relate in the very near future. During the talk\, we will be giving a tour through a live virtual world and inviting a select group to join us in a digital collaboration hub.

SUMMARY:Technology-Enabled Disruption: Implications for Business\, Labor Markets and Monetary Policy
DESCRIPTION:This conference is designed to provide a better understanding of the phenomenon of technology-enabled disruption and explore its implications for the broader economy—in particular\, labor markets and the workforce. \nTechnology-enabled disruption means that workers are increasingly being replaced by technology. It also means that existing business models are being supplanted by new models\, often technology-enabled\, that bring more efficiency to the sale or distribution of goods and services. As part of this phenomenon\, consumers are increasingly able to use technology to shop for goods and services at lower prices with greater convenience—which has the impact of reducing the pricing power of businesses. This reduced pricing power\, in turn\, causes businesses to further intensify their focus on creating greater operational efficiencies. These trends appear to be accelerating. \nIt is likely that disruption is becoming a greater factor in the economic outcomes of workers. Increasingly\, workers with lower levels of educational attainment are seeing their jobs restructured or eliminated. Unless they have sufficient math and literacy skills\, or are retrained\, these workers may see their productivity and incomes decline as a result of disruption. Thus\, disruption may help explain the muted wage gains and overall labor productivity growth we have seen in the U.S. as well as in other advanced economies during much of the recovery from the global financial crisis. \nTechnology-enabled disruption’s impact on the workforce is likely not susceptible to monetary policy—it requires structural reforms. The reforms could include improving early-childhood literacy and overall college readiness in order to increase the percentage of students who graduate from college in six years or less (a share now estimated at 59 percent in the U.S.). The reforms could also include stepped-up efforts to increase middle-skills training in cities across the U.S. in order to increase employment\, close the skills gap (not enough workers to fill skilled jobs) and raise worker productivity. \nIt is also likely that disruption is a factor behind some business decisions made by companies that are facing one or more disruptive competitors. These companies may be more cautious about making capacity-expansion decisions and investing in major capital projects. \nTo deal with disruptive changes and lack of pricing power\, many companies are seeking greater economies of scale in order to maintain or improve profit margins. This may help explain the record merger-and-acquisition activity globally over the past few years.

SUMMARY:#1 Way to Reduce Mobile Fraud (That You Have Never Heard About) ZIMPERIUM
DESCRIPTION:May 26\, 2021 (Wednesday)\n11:00am EDT / 4:00pm GMT+1\n30 Minutes \nTraditional approaches for fraud prevention rely heavily on user\, account\, and transaction data. But for transactions that originate from a mobile app\, very little is known about the health of the mobile device. This is the most important cause of mobile fraud… one that is a growing problem considering that a significant amount of mobile fraud occurs on the device via malware\, bots\, and emulators. \nThe only way to combat these sophisticated mobile fraud techniques is to embrace a “trust-based” approach by leveraging real-time device risk assessments and comprehensive run-time protection. \nJoin our mobile security experts for a webinar where we will discuss: \n\nThe fraud risks related to mobile app transactions\nThe framework for a “trust-based” approach to mobile app fraud prevention\nHow to integrate real-time device risk assessments and run-time protection into your fraud prevention workflows\n\nMeet our Speakers: \nMichiel Kemperman\, VP of Sales Engineering\, EMEA | Zimperium \nKrishna Vishnubhotla\, SVP of Product Strategy | Zimperium \nLocal Account Executive- christina.angelone@zimperium.com
