Scott co-founded Consero Global in 2006 with a vision of providing small and mid-size companies with a more reliable, scalable and economic way to address their internal finance and administration needs. Since, then, Consero has helped over 200+ end clients do just that becoming the go-to solution for private equity firms and growing companies.
Scott has more than 15 years of direct finance and consulting experience with companies ranging in size from emerging technology businesses to Fortune 500 companies, including IBM. Prior to founding Consero, Scott was a senior finance executive at Trilogy Software where he made significant improvements to the company’s financial forecasting process while leading the buildup and management of its finance and accounting operations. Scott earned an MBA from the University of Texas and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Managerial Studies from Rice University.
Phil Murray, Vice President of Finance & Admin, Kimbia
Phil Murray has over 15 years of experience working in growing businesses across several different industries. After beginning his college education as a Computer Science major, his interests were ultimately drawn in the direction of business, leading to a B.S. in Business Administration and later an MBA with an emphasis in finance, both completed at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Within three years of finishing his undergraduate work, Phil was serving as the top financial executive of a construction services business which grew to multiple lines of business and multiple locations in the Southeast, and was ultimately titled as CFO at the time of his departure in 2009 when he and his wife moved to her home state of Texas. His experience of working directly with and for CEOs and founders from so early in his career has given him the unique perspective of business owner and entrepreneur.
Phil is a Texas-licensed CPA, and is passionate about improving processes and focusing himself and his co-workers to move beyond analyzing information to actually act on that information. He and his wife have young two sons and a foster daughter and call the Austin neighborhood Bryker Woods their home. They enjoy exploring the excellent food found in our city and their family can be found most Saturdays on a soccer field somewhere.
April Downing, CFO, WP Engine
April Downing is a seasoned financial and operational executive with over 20 years of experience and is the CFO of WP Engine, a fully-managed premium WordPress hosting provider with over 350 employees and 40,000 customers. Having raised over $220 million in capital and completed more than 20 acquisitions, April appreciates the complexity of managing technology and services companies at various stages. In addition to leading the finance side of the house for both publicly and privately held companies, April has a passion for people and has lead the talent and culture teams for her various companies over the last decade. Understanding the importance of giving back, April currently serves as the Chairman of Helping Hand Home for Children’s Foundation and is a member of National Charity League of Austin where she shares her love of volunteerism with her daughter.
Mel Tang, CFO, SpareFoot
As the CFO of Sparefoot, Mel Tang brings more than 15 years of investment banking, consumer Internet and public-company experience. His proven public company experience and hands on business experience has allowed him to step into the critical role at Sparefoot. He is a seasoned executive who understands how to work with a rapidly scaling and fast growing business. He is innovative and has helped accelerate the company’s growth and market presence.
Prior to Sparefoot, Tang was CFO at Demand Media Inc. Tang joined Demand Media shortly after it was founded in 2006 and was promoted to CFO in August 2012. Tang was also an investment banker at UBS Investment Bank and at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. Tang graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned dual bachelor’s degrees in finance and mechanical engineering.
